Saul Tzipori, PhD
Saul Tzipori, DVM, PhD, DSc, FRCVS, is the Director of Tufts University New England RBL and Chair of the Department of Infectious Disease and Global Health (IDGH). Dr. Tzipori is an internationally recognized research scientist, having pioneered the field of comparative medicine in infectious diseases for the last 30 years. He leads the single largest research entity at Tufts focusing on biodefense, emerging diseases, and global health. Utilizing his veterinary skills, his work promotes human health using animal models of disease.
As part of the national biodefense program, Dr. Tzipori led the Microbiology and Botulism Research Unit of the NIAID’s Food and Waterborne Disease Integrated Research Network and has conducted research on multiple NIAID priority pathogens as well as a myriad of food and waterborne diseases.
